Chapter 1 - Unforseen Beginning

EXT – Village House

We hear a loud scream coming from the room of a house in this small village in the middle of nowhere.

INT – Outside bedroom

Idris, his father and uncle are all waiting anxiously outside the bedroom where Idris’s wife is given birth to their first born child. Idris worried, moves around the room while his uncle and father both sitting on the chairs.

Father
“Sit down Idris, you’re not helping anyone.”

Uncle
“His right you know, this is natural I have had 12 children and it gets easier each time. “

Idris takes his father’s advice and tries to sit down. As soon as he is about to sit the bedroom door opens and out comes the villages nurse.

Nurse
“We need more blankets and water”

Idriss shocked trying to get a glimpse of his wife does not response to the request. His uncle tells his eldest son to get the blanket and water.

Idris’s wife screams louder as we hear women in the room shouting push! His nephew brings the blankets to the nurse and the nurse hands him a used blanket full of blood. Idris shocked by the sight runs outside and vomits on the streets.

EXT – Village House

His father comes outside to comfort him.

Father
“Breathe son, its ok.”

His father sits down beside him and puts his hand on him to comfort his young son.

Father
“I know this is your first time. But Allah (swt) made it this way. Allah (swt) could have made us have children millions of other ways, but he chooses this. Simply because you will bond with your child so much more.”

His father holds him tighter to show his love for him.

Father
“No matter what Allah (swt) gives you today. Just remember to teach your child their religion and never forget that we are only here on this world for a short time.”

As soon as his father finished speaking, Idris’s wife stopped screaming. Idris and his father rush back into the house.

INT – Living Room

Idris and his family wait outside the bedroom for news on his new child. A moment of silence makes the wait worse for Idris. He doesn’t know whether to smile or cry.

Uncle
“told you it would be over. Congratulations nephew! You’re a father.”

Idris (nervously)
“Thank...You”

Idris looks over to his uncle to response and then the door opens and out comes the nurse holding a white cover with a baby inside.

Everyone in the room is shocked and praised Allah for this gift.

Father
“may he bring you happiness for eternity.”

The nurse hands over the beautiful baby boy to Idris and congratulates him before she heads over to his father and takes him into a corner secretly talking.

Idris is now flooded with tears and can’t help but feel a strong connection with his child.

Idris (in tears)
“Praise Allah”

Idris takes a moment to fully take in what he has in his hands before his father returns and takes him outside.

Father
“Lets take the child outside for his first fresh air”

Idris unsure of the routines of a new born child listens to his father’s advice and all 3 head outside.

Father
“Sit down son”

Idris and his father sit outside on a seating area while Idris looks at his child.

Father
“Beautiful isn’t he?”

Idris
“As of this day I will be a righteous man and teach my son Islam with the will of Allah”

Father
“Insha’Allah”

Idris’s father sounded slightly depressed as he replied, looking at the ground in this happy moment. Idris noticed and takes a moment to look at his father’s face.

Idris
“I know that face father, what is on your mind?”

Idris’s father tries to look into his face but feels saddened by having to be the one who bares the following news. His father looks up at Idris with tears over flowing from his eyes and replies.

Father
“It’s your wife... (Pause) Allah has honoured her with martyrdom”

It takes a few seconds for Idris to decipher the meaning and realised that his wife had died giving birth to their first son. He looks back at his son as he too begins to cry.

Idris
“How?”

Father
“She lost a lot of blood”

Idris looks at his son, who is sound asleep and has no idea that the first sacrificed made for him was by his mother. Idris looks back at his father confused,

Idris
“What will I do now?”

Father
“Raise your child.”

Idris
“How?”

Father
“Allah (swt) has sent you his guidance, start there and teach your son to be a pious Muslim”

Idris
“I promise, you as my witness father, that I will raise my son to be a pious Muslim who will be the cause of many people to either embrace or return to Islam, Insha’Allah”

Idris’s father happy to see his son’s determination says,

“and what do we call this pious solider of Allah (swt)?”

Idris looks at his father remembering that he hasn’t picked a name for his son yet and thinks of one on the spot.

Idris
“erm...I haven’t thought of one yet!”

Father
“What would your wife have chosen?”

Idris
“she always wanted Fatima if it was a girl and Adam if it were a boy”

Father
“Then we will call him, Adam son of Idris”

Idris looks at his son, Adam sleeping.

Idris (quietly)
Adam, my son.

17 years later. (to be continued Insha'Alah)
